3 Peregrine Falcons Were Born In Paris

Three Peregrine falcons were born recently in Paris, in an artificial nestbox: a first since the end of the 19th century!
On April 25, two eggs hatched, then a 3rd a few days later, at the top of the tall Beaugrenelle chimney (15th arrondissement).

It's a very good news. I have just read that they were virtually eradicated from eastern North America by pesticide poisoning in the middle 20th century and are back again in big cities.

"News" is an uncountable word.
You cannot say "a news", generally speaking, people just say "news": "it's (very) good news!"
If you really want to point out one, you will say: an item of news, a piece of news or a bit of news.

NB: "News" is singular.

I'd add the same word "news" will be translated into French by a sinular or a plural according to the context.
In other words, when you have to translate from French to English, you'll use "news" for both singular and plural without bothering about "a bit, a piece, or an item of news".
